ماهیگیر

عکاسی شبیه ماهیگیری است؛ هر دو هنرِ صبر و شکارِ لحظه‌اند. ماهیگیر به دریا خیره می‌شود تا ماهی خود را صید کند و عکاس به جهان تا لحظه‌ای را از جریان زمان بیرون بکشد. اما تفاوت اینجاست: ماهی را می‌توان به دریا بازگرداند اما لحظه‌ای که از زمان صید شد، دیگر هرگز بازنمی‌گردد. عکاس ماهیگیرِ زمان است؛ دوربینش قلابی برای صید لحظه‌هایی که ابدیت آن‌ها را می‌بلعد.

Photography is like fishing; both are arts of patience and capturing the moment. The fisherman gazes at the sea, waiting to catch a fish, while the photographer gazes at the world, waiting to pull a moment out of the flow of time. But there is one difference: a fish can be returned to the sea, while a moment once caught from time can never return. The photographer is a fisherman of time; the camera is the hook that catches moments before eternity swallows them.
